What have you done today to promote your music?

As an independent artist it is important that you try and get your music and brand out there at least 6 days a week. The 7th day is for resting of course. We all need a break at some point. The other days, you should try and do the following:

Get your music on radio
Try and get your music out to any radio outlet whether it be terrestrial radio, internet radio, college radio, and more. You can make calls to program directors, send emails out, and follow up.

Book Shows
It is very important that you try and book shows for you to perform. It is key for you to build your fan base this way. If you are not a headlining act yet, open for as many artists that you can handle. Even if you have to sell tickets.

Work social media
You should consistently update and monitor your social media pages, and your own website.
Think up contests you can do with your fans where they will win free music or a t-shirt.

Go to local industry events
Try and show up to as many music industry related events  in your area that you can. It is important to get your face out there and shake hands. You never know who may help you in the future.

Work on fresh music
Try to stay fresh with new music and ideas.

Read
Read as many books as you can about music business. You will thank yourself later.

Of course there are many other ways to promote your music career. The key is to keep trying and to think on a global scale. Make lists of goals you want to accomplish for the week.
