Quality versus quantity in music

When releasing an album, it is always better to have ten solid songs than twenty mediocre ones.
It seems to be a trend these days for artists to release an album that is crammed full of music. I think the labels do this to make the consumer feel as if they are getting more music for their money. The problem is that there are generally only 4 good songs and the rest are forgettable. Recent polls taken by music fans said they would rather have less music with better quality songs over too much filler music crammed onto an album. Think of back in the days, most albums were no more than ten songs.
So next time you are putting together your future release, try to pick ten to twelve rock solid songs and put that out as your album. Your fans will thank you for it later.
