Go On TOUR! The best way to promote your music

The best way to promote yourself and your music is to do as many live shows as you can. You can only promote so much online. If you want to gain more true fans, then you must have real interactions with them, not just online. When you do a live performance, you can connect with the fans on a whole different level. Seeing an artist perform a song in person is a wonderful experience.
Plus you can sell merchandise and CDs at your shows to make money. It is all about the fans.
The best place to start is in your hometown. Book as many shows as you can locally. Do not be afraid to do free shows and open up for other acts. That is just how it is at first. Pay your dues and build a fan base to prove to promoters that you can draw a crowd. The money will come after that. Once you have a fan base, start branching out to other cities in your state. Do the same process that you did locally and you will see results. After that try booking out of state. Just repeat the process over and over on bigger levels. Look at the big picture. If your mind is set locally, you will stay local. If you think on a national level, you will become national. Use Twitter and Facebook to promote your performances. You should also video record your shows to put on your website. You could also record several shows, then take one song and splice together different shows of you performing the same song, and make it into a music video. When at your shows, be sure to pass out full color postcards with your picture, website, contact info, Twitter, where they can download music, and more. This will build your Twitter followers fast. You will see results.

Artists and bands be sure to submit your music at these radio networks as well.
