Websites are important for musicians

Your website should be a part of your world that fans can become a part of. It is important to have a visually appealing website that your fans will want to come back to. Here are some tips on what every musician should have on their website.

Have a real website
Have a real website built for your music. Do not just have a Facebook, Myspace or Reverbnation page.

Make it a quick loading website
Do not overload your website with stuff that takes forever to load such as Flash or embedded sounds.
Keep it simple. Add a music player with a playlist that is Flash or HTML5, which will load up on iPads and other portable devices.

Include pictures and important info
Include pictures for your fans and some for the press that can be downloaded. If a reporter does a story on you and needs a press photo, they can just get it from your website. Also include a short and to the point bio that explains your background and important career milestones.

List upcoming performances
You should always list your upcoming shows. Always keep it up to date.

Give away freebies every month
It is smart to give away a free song download every month. This will keep your true fans coming back to the website.

Include important links
Always list direct links to where people can buy your music.

Include Twitter and Facebook
Put a Facebook "like" button on your site so people can "like" your Facebook page directly from your website. You can also add your Twitter timeline to your website so fans can view all your Tweets directly from your website.

Buy a relevant dot com name
Buy a dot com name that has to do with your artist or band name. People will find you easier in the search engines then.

Artists and bands be sure to submit your music at these radio networks as well.
www.hardcorejamz.com (Playing Hip-Hop and R&B)
www.hardcoremix.com (Rock,Pop,Country,Jazz,Electro,Gospel and more)
Submit music on either site.
