Wanna make it in music? Be professional!

You need to be as professional as possible to stand out in the music industry. Making a good first impression is important and a must. A good first impression puts you on the road to a long lasting impression with music business contacts. These contacts can be stepping stones to get you where you want to be in a music career.
Here is a short list of things to remember:

Business cards
Always carry them with you. Get them printed professionally and put your name, phone number, website and email address on them.

Know your genre
It is important to know what your music genre is. How would you classify yourself. Are you Alternative, Alternative Rock or Alternative Hip-Hop? When you know your own genre, you can get a better idea of who to market and promote your music to.

Have a professional bio and pictures
Have a well written and nicely printed bio and 8 by 10 photos made up for your press kits.

Have a professional website
Make your website look nice. Link your Twitter feed to it and add news updates and free downloads.

Return calls
You should always return phone calls to people. Even if you feel they may not be as important right now.
If you act inappropriate to people, word will get around.

Dress the part
There is a time and place for how you should dress for every occasion. Going to an industry party? Dress nice and impress.

Artists and bands be sure to submit your music at these radio networks as well.
