Musicians! Get a major label look and impress more people!

If you are an independent recording artist then you want to come off as professional as possible to others so you will be taken more seriously. If you are releasing your own music under your own record label then start out by thinking of a nice and conservative name for your business. If you have a name like Steel City Records or something similar, you will blend in more with the industry and come off as a big company. Many indie Hip-Hop labels make the mistake of having ridiculous record label names such as "Millionaire Big Cash Records" or "Makin' Money Records" which just sound amateur. Simple sounding names that are easy to remember will brand it into a persons mind. Once you have a solid name for your record business, you should then have a logo drawn up by someone or find free clip-art online that could give you ideas. Once you have all of that then get the record label name and logo on business cards, letter heads, envelopes and more. Be sure to have a well written bio and an 8x10 photo made up for your press kits. You want to give the impression of success as much as possible even if you are just starting out.
