Organizing a tour is easier than it seems!

So you are ready to go on tour and promote your latest CD. Well here are some basic tips to go by so you come off as more professional to booking agents.

1. Make sure you have a CD to promote.
People who book artists and bands want someone who has enough songs to do a good show. Even if you are just an opener for another act, it is just a better look on your end if you have a CD recorded and ready to promote.

2.Start local and expand.
Start off playing clubs in your area and then once you get a bit known and comfortable with your act, start expanding outside your area a bit. Start trying to get gigs throughout the state you live in.

3. Don't expect to get paid a bunch of money right away.
When starting out do not be surprised if you have to do some free shows as an opener or sometimes you will be asked to sell your own tickets in order to get a spot.
This is all paying dues to get yourself known.

4. Once you get known and want to charge money, write up a standard contract for clubs you want to play in.
Have a short contract written up about how many songs, amount of money ect.

5. Have decent transportation.
Get a decent vehicle to travel to your out of state shows. Many bands get a cheap van to hold everything.

6. Try to get radio interviews in areas you are playing in.

Call loacal station in the areas you will be playing and tell them you want an interview to promote the show. College stations will more than likely help.

7. Put on a good show.
Be creative and energetic with your performance to get people interested in buying your music.

8. Sell your music and T-shirts at shows.
There is so much money to be made selling merchandise.

Musicians be sure to submit your music to these radio networks.
